The Last Exit

We are finally drawing the curtain to the most travelled and engaging stories we have ever told (till date) — The Exit Interview.

Beyond the entertainment value, we sought to create a content that will task our ability to research and challenge our intellectual capacity — and that and more did we do. The exit interview navigated some of the most encountered facets of the corporate world — blackmail, fraud, emotional torment, career petulance, amortisation, capitalisation, acquisition, liquidation, cyber security, candidate mismanagement among others and that’s only the surface.

This journey started from a small bedroom at Toyin street, Ikeja to a modern office space in Banana island; then to Victoria island and off to Lekki Phase 1 and finally to Freedom Way — then to London.

As much of a success story that it is, it also had its breaking points and learning curves. Scheduling sync across cast and crew, location unavailability, funds deficiencies, technical drawbacks, wardrobe mishap, call time defaultering and so much. But it’s all the rest of the job, right?

In order of appearance (as it is said), Chidinma Ifunanyachi (@chidinamaifunanyachi) was an exceptional inclusion on this project. Call it stereotypic or otherwise, first sight of her created the idea to engage her in the capacity we got her on the project and it was a delight how much energy, interest and passion she added to it. Fun fact is she has not met any of the approx. 20 characters in the INTERVIEW universe.

Heaven Kalu (@heavenscribbles) is a different story entirely. Bringing him on any project has been a very long time coming. After the first production, he got married. Immediately after playing his role in the second, he got his first daughter that same night. Testimonies definitely happened after the third but I guess its enough private matter to share already.

In a different class of her own is Caroline Igben (@caroline_igben). If privilege was a lady in red gown and a pocket full of talent, it was her. We have lost count on how many people that couldn’t tell the difference between the character she played and the fact that she was only playing a role. The empathy was surreal.

Uttie Tess (@uttietheugandan) was a wonderful silver bullet. Having watched behind the scenes one too many times, we decided to throw her in for a jab. Howbeit small, her role became pivotal to the development of the bigger vision.

Flipping through to the next chapter, there was Momachi Godson (@momachi_). Memories come flooding at the point to reach out and engage on how fierce the battle was to settle with between her and some other persons of interest — even on set. But instinct kicked in and there hasn’t been any doubt how much she has in store. Ever looking for a good example of “Never doubt a book by its cover” — it will be her.

<smiles> SPIRIT!!! … This is a different breed. The character needed someone demeaning — but Adeyemi Adeshina(@iamspirit001) hardly cut a frown, let alone a convincing one. His digital prints leaves a smirk on viewers face. Well, not until the cameras came rolling. That person flew off the window and there was the man we were looking for.

As we began to encroach into the realistic corporate world, it was only a matter of time to introduce those in that actual world and reaching out to Celestine Omin (@cyberomin) was a no-brainer. For the part he played, we are glad he understood life beyond the territory of his technical workspace. He was good enough!

Finally to the last chapter of the topsy-turvy. Finding GLORIA’s crush is up there among the arduous task encountered when it came to casting. As much as 7 different reach outs were done up till 10 hours to call time — after rescheduling for the 7th time (no exaggeration). By some miracle, we got directed to Frank Paladini (@mr_paladini). After a failed first attempt on a past project, we were glad to finally have him. While on set, he was a delight to work with. He brought countless amount of humour and chemistry with every single person. His commitment is unique.

“You will not be doing anything, per se. Just be her right hand man” was the words transmitted to Eze Prince (@prinzebrown003). To send across the vibe from the master villan of the whole universe, we wanted to include a guy man. Someone who would have another pivotal role should we get the chance to continue beyond the Breakout Session. Upon stumbling to him the first time, we knew it was him.

Spy at my wristwatch. It is 2:20pm. It was almost that late that we begun shooting

Finally, to the most adored cast ever, Mummy Elvina Ibru (@elvinaibru). Never in a while has the whole cast gotten more excited about someone joining in on a project. “Are you serious? Are you sure?” — Eyes lit and only words of adoration from every single one from cast to crew were received upon getting a confirmation of her joining in. Till she walked in to join us, it still looked like a dream. The industry is indeed a small village. Thank you a billion times over for taking a chance on us. The words of encouragement you shared immediately after shooting tells so much on how far our ambition can take us.

And of course, what could we have achieved without the widows might of the numerous friends behind the veil. Those who have offered us the needed support and resources to charge and achieve beyond the scribbles on paper. Putting a label will tear open the veil and we won’t be doing that- you know yourselves.

Crew guys are as awesome as always. Tosin Ayilara, Akinseun Baptist, Olumide Adewunmi, Adetayo Adetola, David Esema, Nnamdi Otuonye, Adesola Adegbite, Azeez, Julius, Korede Olaniyan, Ikenna Oguike, Timilehin Odeniyide, Oluchi Obuzo and the list goes on.Cheers to the many more we can accomplish.
